Are some car models statistically more likely to be stopped for a DWI investigation that others?
According to insurance statistics, the following car models had the most DWI’s in 2022 (in order):
- Acura NSX
- Chevrolet Astro
- Audi A4 allroad
- Nissan NV
- GMC Suburban
- Cadillac Seville
- Chevrolet Caprice
- Audi A5
- Toyota Landcruiser
- Buick Lucerne
It’s important to note that no car model is inherently more likely to be involved in a DWI incident than another. The likelihood of a DWI incident is determined by the behavior of the driver rather than the make and model of the vehicle. It’s important to prioritize safe and responsible driving behaviors at all times, regardless of the type of car you’re driving. Driving while intoxicated is not only illegal but can also be very dangerous.
Driving While Intoxicated in Texas is defined as driving or operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Intoxication refers to not having the normal use of your mental or physical faculties due to the introduction of a substance OR having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher. As such, you can be charged with DWI if you are suspected of being intoxicated on a substance other than alcohol – such as legal or illegal drugs. The term “DUI” is often used in other states to describe the same offense. A “DUI” in Texas refers to a minor given a Class C ticket for operating a motor vehicle with a detectable amount of alcohol.
